COVID-19 Information
As a reminder, Public Health always recommends everyday steps to help prevent the spread of germs and viruses:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
As with other viruses of this nature, transmission is thought to occur via respiratory droplets

If you think you may have COVID-19 or were exposed to the virus, visit this site and take these steps to take care of yourself and protect others.
To book an appointment for a COVID-19 test, anyone with mild symptoms can call the testing centre directly at 226-895-1050.
You can also book online using My Visit. You will need your health card to book an appointment online.
If you feel you need to see a physician for assessment, please call Grandview Medical Centre to schedule an appointment.
Assessment Centre hours of operation
- Monday to Friday – 8:30am to 8:30pm
- Weekends and holidays – 8:30am to 4:30pm
Drive Thru testing hours of operation
- Monday to Friday – 10:00am to 6:00pm
- Weekends and holidays – 10:00am to 3:00pm
- Please note the drive thru may close due to inclement weather. If this happens, scheduled drive thru appointments will be done in the clinic.
A valid Ontario health card is required to access your results. If you are having any difficulty accessing your COVID-19 results, please call the office to speak with a nurse.Also, please note, it can take up to 7 days for your results to be available online.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING COVID-19 VACCINE
MEDICAL EXEMPTION LETTERS:
There are three rare situations in which a patient would qualify for medical exemption from the COVID-19 vaccine:
1. Severe allergic reaction (i.e., anaphylaxis) to a previous dose of a COVID-19 mRNA vaccine, as confirmed by an allergist
2. An allergy to a component (PEG (Polyethylene glycol), Tromethamine and Polysorbate), of the COVID-19 vaccine, as confirmed by an allergist
3. Myocarditis or pericarditis after a first dose of an mRNA vaccine – as a precautionary measure, the second dose of the series should be deferred in individuals who experience myocarditis or pericarditis following a first dose of an mRNA vaccine as confirmed by a physician, until more information is available.
***The physicians at Grandview will be writing COVID-19 vaccination medical exemption notes based on the criteria laid out by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. The CPSO advises that your physician is not able to provide a letter to exempt you from a COVID vaccine on the basis of any religious or personal beliefs, or for any medical condition not listed above.***
Currently there is no medical indication that would support not wearing a face mask in public. Therefore, the physicians at Grandview Medical Centre will NOT be providing letters of exemption for patients. Please read the link below for additional information regarding face mask recommendations.

Due to the current and impending COVID-19 pandemic, we will be making changes in the way we deliver your care. Our goal is to minimize potential exposure to as many people as possible, while freeing up resources to attend to those who require urgent care.
Starting immediately – we will no longer be booking routine appointments (including routine physicals, pap smears, wart treatments and ear syringes). If you have an appointment scheduled currently, you will be contacted to cancel or amend this appointment.
Additionally, we will be reviewing our schedules and incoming appointments-those that can be accomplished safely by telephone or a virtual visit (information to follow) will be booked as such. Those visits that are of a more urgent nature and require an in-person visit will still be offered this option. In order to help reduce the spread of the virus-we ask for your help. If you have respiratory symptoms (cough, fever, shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle aches), have travelled outside of the country, or have had contact with someone with respiratory symptoms, and travel, we ask that you STAY HOME call our office or Public health at 1-800-265-7293 X 7006 for further direction. PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND OUR OFFICE WITHOUT INSTRUCTION IN THIS CASE.
As a community, our responsibility at this time is to minimize the virus spread and the impending impact on your health, and our healthcare system. WE ALSO ASK THAT YOU NOT ATTEND THE EMERGENCY ROOM UNLESS IT IS A CLEAR EMERGENCY.
In regards to your greater social obligations – we urge you to wash your hands and just stay home. Please reconsider attending large public venues, events and traveling. The more successful we are at social distancing, the best chance we have at minimizing the impact of this virus.
